As the 4th industrial revolution is coming up with transition of global energy paradigm, Amritec and our partner are focusing on taking initiatives in newly emerging markets where future energy is applied and combined with ICT-based convergence technologies such as SG (Smart Grid), MG (Micro Grid), Geographical Information System and/or ESS. We are actively promoting new energy business opportunities, such as the establishment of ecofriendly MG in Ethiopia and construction of Smart City in Dubai.In 2017, our partner carried out the feasibility study for new energy businesses (AMI, DAI, and GIS etc.) through the development of new distribution business model in Dominican Republic and expanded its scope through an eco-friendly Microgrid project providing electricity services to remote villages where had no access to electricity in Ethiopia. We will promote convergence businesses in potential markets, diversify overseas business portfolio by developing business models that are highly profitable and customizable, and eventually lead global markets as a first mover in new energy industry.
A smart grid is a next-generation electrical grid that features a variety of ICT-based smart functions aimed at providing OR high-quality electricity while maximizing energy efficient. It has established on the basis of traditional power systems by integrating new energy, new material, new equipment, and new technologies like advanced sensor technologies, information technology, control technology and power storage technology, featuring high level of informatization, automation and interaction. It could realize safe, reliable, economical and efficient operation of the power grid system.
Amritec attaches great importance to building strong and smart power grid. It has carried out comprehensive research and practice in the development of smart grid with a strong grid structure as the basis, covering power generation, transmission, transformation, distribution, usage, dispatching and information communication with a series of major breakthroughs made in theoretical innovation, standard development, key technology, major equipment and project construction. It has become a global leader in smart grid development with remarkable achievements.
The Corporation developed a series of world-class smart grid demonstration projects to promote the commercialization of technological innovation results in the smart grid and build a world-leading smart grid innovation demonstration zone. Moreover, our partner also built the world’s first 1000kV UHV AC power transmission and conversion demonstration project that has been put into commercial operation, the world’s first t800kV UHV DC power transmission demonstration project with the highest voltage level and the largest capacity, and the National Wind/PV/Energy Storage and Transmission Joint Demonstration Project which is the largest of its kind. The world’s first 200kV HVDC circuit breaker demonstration project was built and put into operation, which solved the “centennial bottleneck” of circuit breaking of high-power HVDC projects. In 2017, the first renewable-energy power plant equipped with virtual synchronous generator function in the world was built and put into operation, and the 500kV UPFC demonstration project featuring the highest voltage and the largest capacity in the world was put into operation.
We are now expanding the smart grid project worldwide, offering power and energy consulting services based on AMI (advanced metering infrastructure). Looking ahead, we plan to lay the groundwork for the expansion of wide-area smart gods by 2020, build smart gods nationwide by 2030, and lead the growth of the global smart grid market in partnership with SMEs.

As we are moving closer to a clean energy future, energy from intermittent sources like wind and solar must be stored for use when the wind isn’t blowing and the sun isn’t shining. Batteries have changed a lot in the past century, but there is still work to do. Improving this type of energy storage technology will have dramatic impacts on the way people travel and the ability to incorporate renewable energy into the world’s electric grid.
Another type of hydropower called pumped storage works like a battery, storing the electricity generated by other power sources like solar, wind, and nuclear for later use. It stores energy by pumping water uphill to a reservoir at higher elevation from a second reservoir at a lower elevation. When the power is needed, the water is released and turns a turbine, generating electricity.
Pumped-storage hydropower (P511) is a type of hydroelectric energy storage. It is a configuration of two water reservoirs at different elevations that can generate power (discharge) as water moves down through a turbine; this draws power as it pumps water (recharge) to the upper reservoir. PSH capabilities can be characterized as open loop, where there is an ongoing hydrologic connection to a natural body of water, or closed loop, where the reservoirs are not connected to an outside body of water.
